WACO, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a 28-year-old man accused of stealing a piece of equipment, worth about $8,000, from a local auto repair shop he used to work at.

Daniel Webb Hoopman has been arrested for theft, less than $20,000, for an incident reported back on Nov. 18th. Hoopman also had an outstanding warrant involving an accident with a parked car in Bellmead.

According to Sgt. Patrick Swanton, operators of Pro Quick Lube, located in the 800 block of North Valley Mills Dr., reported the theft of a computer engine analyzer, valued at more than $8,000. They suspected a former employee.

The computer engine analyzer breaks out codes associated with the check engine light.

Police investigated the case and discovered that the engine analyzer was pawned at a Top Dollar Pawn, located in the 1700 block of West Waco Dr. Investigators then obtained a warrant for Hoopman, who was later arrested.
