COPPERAS COVE - A 32-year-old Copperas Cove man is being held on charges after a Jan. 8th incident involving shots fired at a pickup truck and a home.

Nicholas Eustacio Obregon was charged with deadly conduct, failure to ID, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon as well as theft of a firearm for an incident that occurred last Wednesday in Copperas Cove.

Police rushed to the scene on the 1600 block of Velma Ave. They found the truck which had been shot by a 40 caliber handgun. Police saw Nicholas Obregon in the area. He was checked out and released. Obregon was later seen dropping something in a recycling bin.

An officer returned to the area and checked the bin to find a handgun, which was determined to have been stolen in a burglary in November 2013. Police picked up Obregon in another part of Copperas Cove and took him into custody.
