TEMPLE - Drivers in Temple are encouraged to find alternate routes for their Thursday morning commute at the intersection of Airport Rd and NW HK Dodgen Loop. Crews are currently on the scene working to repair and replace damaged traffic lights after a semi crashed into the utility pole.

Temple Police and Temple Fire and Rescue were called out to the intersection of Airport Rd. and NW HK Dodgen Loop about a single vehicle accident just before 3:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

They arrived on the scene and found a semi truck that was heading north on NW HK Dodgen Loop, had tried to turn left onto Airport Rd., but hit the utility pole holding up the traffic lights at the intersection. The pole broke and the traffic lights fell. After hitting the pole, the semi stopped and was blocking the northbound lanes of NW HK Dodgen Loop. No one was injured during the crash.

Emergency crews are currently on the scene to make repairs and drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes for their Thursday morning commute. Temple PD says delays should be expected as repairs are being made and while the damaged signals are being replaced. There will be alternative traffic control devices in the area until repairs are made to the traffic lights.

Temple PD says they are not sure if the weather was a factor in the crash, but remind drivers to allow extra time when there is bad weather and use extra caution on the roadways.
