One injured, one arrested for DWI after multiple wrecks in Hewitt

HEWITT - A 25-year-old man was taken to Hillcrest Hospital Wednesday morning and another man was arrested for DWI after a car accident resulted in an auto-pedestrian crash in Hewitt.

Hewitt officers responded to a reported crash in the 200 block of West Warren Road, just before 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. About that same time, officers also responded to an auto-pedestrian crash at Hewitt Dr. and West Warren Rd.

Officers arrived on the scene of the auto-pedestrian crash and found a 25-year-old man who was seriously injured after being hit by a black 2005 Pontiac Vibe that was heading south on Hewitt Dr. Police say the man was crossing Hewitt Dr. He was taken to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries. The driver of the Pontiac was not injured and no charges have been filed against him.

Officers arrived on the scene of the crash in the 200 block of West Warren Rd. and determined that a white 2011 Nissan Altima, that had been heading east on West Warren, left the roadway and hit a tree. Officers determined that the 25-year-old victim of the auto-pedestrian crash was a passenger in the Nissan. Police say he was hit while walking home after the accident.

The driver of the Nissan Altima, Jason Paul Scott, 30, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor offense, after he was treated and released for minor injuries.

A third accident also occurred just before 7:45 a.m. at Hewitt Dr. and Warren Rd. Officers say a 2008 Ford Edge was hit from behind by a 2004 Toyota SUV as they were stopping at the red light. Police say no injuries were reported during that crash.
