WACO - A 27-year-old man has been arrested after police say he was caught on camera stealing two video game systems from a local WalMart in December.

Kevin Alan Shavers faces a charge of robbery with bodily injury for an incident at the WalMart store located in the 600 block of Hewitt Drive back on Dec. 11.

According to Sgt. Patrick Swanton with Waco PD, the arrest for Shavers came after an investigation into the incident. On December 11, WalMart loss prevention officers noticed a man pick up two Xbox systems and begin to walk toward the exit about 2 p.m. They attempted to stop him, but the man ran.

One of the loss prevention officers was injured while chasing after the suspect, which turned the charge from theft into robbery resulting injury. The suspect was able to get away, but the robbery was caught on store cameras.

Police posted the video on the Neighborhood Services Facebook Page and within an hour began receiving tips on the identity of the suspect.  After further investigation, officers were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Kevin Alan Shavers on a charge of robbery with bodily injury.  He was arrested and booked into the McLennan County Jail early Wednesday morning.

After the prosecution rested just before 11 a.m., it was the defense's turn to call up witnesses. Petetan's attorney's stressed to the jury that they were...More >>
