Texas tow truck driver shot while trying to help men
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Police say a tow truck driver was shot in the early hours of New Year's Day as he tried to help three men stranded on a freeway in Fort Worth.
WFAA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1cnInMT ) the men were having car trouble around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday and called the tow truck. A police spokeswoman says the driver told the men only one could ride in the tow truck's cab and that the other two could not sit in the vehicle as it was being towed.
Police say one of the men pulled a gun and fired at the tow truck as it drove away. The shot hit the driver, who was taken to a hospital. His condition is not clear.
