Police arrest woman accused of stabbing husband

GATESVILLE, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a woman accused of stabbing her husband during an argument at their Gatesville home on Saturday.

Johanna Lynne Herrin faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-family violence for a stabbing on December 28.

Gatesville police say officers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of N. 18th St., just after 4 p.m. about a stabbing that had taken place.

Officers spoke with the victim and he told them that he had been arguing with his wife, Herrin. He told officers that she tried to stab him with a butcher knife, and that he was able to knock the knife out of her hands and then barricaded himself in the bathroom.

He told police that Herrin the grabbed a smaller knife, broke through the bathroom door, and then stabbed him in left arm. He then said he ran across the street and asked a neighbor to call for help.

The victim was taken to Coryell Memorial Hospital by ambulance, with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers spoke with Herrin, and she claimed that she stabbed him in self defense. Police say she was not initially arrested, but officers continued to investigate the incident and on Monday, filed a complaint that charged Herrin with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-family violence.

Herrin turned herself in on Monday and was booked in to the Coryell County Jail.
