Police catch armed suspect following hostage situation

KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) - Temple Police have caught the man who forced his way into a woman's apartment and held her at gunpoint leading to a swat team call out.

Killeen Police say sometime Sunday night, 36-year-old Courtney Devonee Holloway forced his way into a woman's apartment, located in the 1100 block of Leslie Circle. Police believe the woman knew Holloway, but he forced his way into her apartment and threatened her.

Holloway was caught in Temple around 8 p.m. Monday night.

Police say Holloway told the victim that if she called police, he would kill her. She was kept inside the apartment all night and was able to get away from the man about 11 a.m. Monday morning and call police.

When police arrived, they surrounded the apartment and deployed the tactical response unit. They searched the entire apartment because the victim believed Holloway was still there.

Holloway was able to get away, and police believe he fled right after the woman escaped. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Holloway was already wanted on a parole violation for burglary of a habitation before this incident. The suspect was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Police say Holloway is about 6-feet-tall and weighs 160 pounds.

“We’ve searched different places, but if anyone sees him coming around, we’re asking them to call Crime Stoppers or call the police department immediately because we need to get him off the streets," said KPD spokesperson Carroll Smith.
