Assault charges dropped against Baylor All-American safety

Posted:
WACO - Assault charges have been dropped against All-American Baylor defensive back Ahmad Dixon after a McLennan County Grand Jury declined to indict him Wednesday.

Dixon was accused of assaulting a 21-year-old man Dixon thought broke into his apartment several months earlier, but charges have been dropped against the standout safety.

Dixon was named in a warrant charging him with misdemeanor assault for an incident on September 16, at an apartment in the 2800 block of South University Dr.

A 21-year-old man reported an assault to Waco PD on September 17, for an incident that happened the night before. The victim told police he waited to report the assault because Dixon threatened him and his family.

Police were told that the victim's cousin told him to come to an apartment in the 2800 block of South University Dr. Dixon and others were inside playing video games.

Dixon accused the victim of breaking into his apartment several months earlier. The victim denied the break in and laughed. According to police, Dixon then began assaulting the victim.

A warrant was issued for Dixon's arrest and he turned himself into the McLennan County Jail.

The McLennan County District Attorney's Office released a statement on the grand jury's decision:

"The case involving Ahmad Dixon was presented to the grand jury this morning. They declined to issue an information against Mr. Dixon, and, therefore, the matter is concluded. As always, we respect the decision of the grand jury."
