MCGREGOR - Police suspect an area family of operating a large marijuana growing operation in California and illegally distributing the drugs in the Central Texas area, after finding more than $500,000 in marijuana and two marijuana farms during a search of a California residence.

A search warrant was executed on November 29 at Phillip and Le Ann Koss' Waco home in connection with a drug ring. They found drugs, money and weapons, along with information that led them to expand their investigation to Northern California.

During the investigation, McGregor investigators contacted law enforcement agents in Yuba County, Ca. and several leads were uncovered. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force (NET-5) was given information that led to two search warrants for residences in California belonging to Chad and Connor Koss.

On December 16, a McGregor investigator assisted agents with NET-5 in executing two search warrants on two rural Yuba County homes. During the search of a 20 acre residence belonging to Chad Koss, 150 pounds of processed high grade marijuana, a pound of marijuana buds, business records and a 40 caliber pistol were seized.

Agents also executed a search warrant on a residence in Dobbins , Ca., which was owned by Connor Koss. 30 pounds of high grade marijuana buds, along with an additional 50 pounds of processed marijuana were seized as part of the search warrant. Agents also found equipment used to convert processed marijuana to hashish at the home.

Two additional warrants were executed on two storage units in Yuba City, Ca. Agents seized three weapons, a small safe that contained approximately $2,000 in cash and several gold and silver coins.

Connor Koss is currently being held in the McLennan County Jail. He has been charged with illegal distribution of marijuana, illegal distribution of hashish and money laundering.

NET-5 Agents and the McGregor Police Department are expected to seize the 20 acre ranch and home in Yuba County, Ca. where the marijuana was being cultivated for illegal distribution in Central Texas.

NET-5 Agents estimate that the property is worth approximately $390,000 and the seized marijuana has a value of more than $500,000.   Additional charges, seizures and arrest of co-conspirators are expected to be filed in Texas and California as this investigation continues
