Gift made in memory of Bill Bott
NEW YORK, Dec. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Murphy's Masters, a charitable social club located in Westchester, New York, has made a $28,685 donation to Robin Hood's Relief Fund, to help members of the tri-state area rebuild and recover from the devastation of Superstorm Sandy. The donation was made in memory of Bill Bott, who died suddenly in 2012. Murphy's Masters raised these funds through their annual golf tournament held each September.
This year's Murphy's Masters golf tournament was the largest one in the history of the organization with 125 golfers participating in both morning and afternoon sessions held at the Pehquenakonck Country Club in North Salem, NY. Unlike most fundraising groups, there is no set charity for Murphy's Masters. Each year, a different recipient is chosen based on specific issues that members hold close to their hearts. This year, Murphy's Masters decided to donate to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, since so many of the towns and cities hit hardest by the storm were areas Bill Bott called home throughout his short, but full, life.
"What makes this tournament so special are the people who come out to play and show their support," said Andrew Murphy of Murphy's Masters. "Bill Bott, grew up, lived, worked and vacationed in many of the areas devastated by Sandy. We knew that by giving to Robin Hood, every penny raised would go to organizations helping people who are still recovering from the storm, and that was a tremendous way to honor the memory of our dear friend Bott."
"All of us at Robin Hood are deeply touched by the generosity of Murphy's Masters," said Patty Smith, managing director of Robin Hood. "Even though the storm was more than a year ago, much work remains to be done to help return people to stable housing and get them back on their feet. We will ensure that this gift from Murphy's Masters goes to organizations that can do the most good for victims of Hurricane Sandy."

ABOUT MURPHY'S MASTERS
Murphy's Masters was initially started by Jim Murphy, an avid golfer, in 1989 as a way to get his friends together. After seeing a good turnout for several years in a row, Jim and his wife Ruth realized that this reunion could be a great way to raise money for those less fortunate. Unlike most fundraisers, Murphy's Masters chooses a new charity each year based on the preferences of its members. Every fall, golfers swarm to Pehquenakonck Country Club located in Northern Westchester for this can't miss yearly event.
