Ex-McLennan County JP sentenced to probation, no jail time

Former McLennan County Justice of the Peace Jean Laster Boone was sentenced to probation Monday morning after pleading guilty to falsifying office mileage reports.

Boone was sentenced to 3 years deferred adjudication probation, ordered to pay $5,120 in restitution, pay a $1,000 fine and serve community service.

Boone pleaded guilty to two counts of tampering with government records on October 22. She resigned and turned in the key to her office.

She admitted to falsifying mileage reimbursement forms that paid her the maximum amount of mileage fees.

A pre-sentence investigation took place before the sentencing.

The McLennan County District Attorney's Office recommended she receive deferred adjudication probation and pay $5,120 in restitution. The charges were third degree felonies, punishable by up to ten years in prison.
