Fairfield pastor accused of sexual assault set for trial

FREESTONE COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -

A pastor accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl from his church is set to go to trial.

Anthony Lynn Thibodeaux was charged with sexual assault in Freestone County in August, 2012. He bonded out and according to Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church's Facebook page, he's still the pastor.

Ladonna Brackens, a former high school coach, was arrested shortly after Thibodeaux and is connected in the investigation. According to an arrest affidavit, Brackens lured a 15 year old girl to her house. Then she watched as Thibodeaux assaulted the girl.

The affidavit went on to say Thibodeaux told the girl if she told anyone, he would hurt her.

Jury selection is set to begin Monday for Thibodeaux's trial. Thibodeaux's attorney Justin Reed says that will be held at the Community Civic Center because the jury pool will be about 350 people. Reed also says he expects jury selection to go by quickly and the trial could start on Tuesday.

He went on to say he's looking forward to telling Thibodeaux's side of the story.
