17-year-old arrested for hitting officer with camera at area high school basketball game

BELLMEAD, TX (KXXV) - Bellmead Police arrested a 17-year-old accused of hitting an officer with a camera that he threw, and then fleeing from police following the incident.

Lyndemain Michael Sternes faces charges of evading arrest and assault on a public servant for an incident at a La Vega High School basketball game Tuesday night.

Police reports indicate that Sternes entered the basketball game without paying by evading the workers at the door. When he was approached by a La Vega ISD Police Officer, Sternes is accused of throwing his camera at the officer, which hit him.

Sternes then fled the scene on foot. Bellmead Police Officers spotted him a short distance away. Sternes is accused of fleeing from the officers. Police say Sternes struggled with officers before being taken into custody.
