17-year-old arrested for hitting officer with camera at area high school basketball game

BELLMEAD, TX (KXXV) - Bellmead Police arrested a 17-year-old accused of hitting an officer with a camera that he threw, and then fleeing from police following the incident.

Lyndemain Michael Sternes faces charges of evading arrest and assault on a public servant for an incident at a La Vega High School basketball game Tuesday night.

Police reports indicate that Sternes entered the basketball game without paying by evading the workers at the door. When he was approached by a La Vega ISD Police Officer, Sternes is accused of throwing his camera at the officer, which hit him.

Sternes then fled the scene on foot. Bellmead Police Officers spotted him a short distance away. Sternes is accused of fleeing from the officers. Police say Sternes struggled with officers before being taken into custody.

Sternes will be charged with evading arrest and assault on a public servant.
