Police arrest man after fleeing following traffic stop

Posted:
WACO - Waco Police have arrested a man for evading arrest after an officer tried to pull him over for speeding Tuesday night.

Marvin Jermaine Carpenter has been charged with evading arrest with a vehicle for an incident Tuesday night.

Police say the incident occurred about 10 p.m. Tuesday night as an officer tried a traffic stop for speeding in the 3800 block of Franklin. The driver pulled over and then bailed out and fled on foot.

The officer followed him through the Sandman Motel parking lot, where he ran around the building. Police say Carpenter made his way back to his car and then drove off.

The officer got back in his car and chased after Carpenter. Police say Carpenter began driving erratically at high speeds. The officer then stopped the pursuit.

Police checked the address for where the car was registered and did not find it. The car was later spotted in the 1600 block of Cumberland in North Waco. Carpenter was taken into custody and charged with felony evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
