Despite cold weather, Baylor fans flock to Floyd Casey's swan song tailgate

WACO -

The sub-freezing temperatures outside didn't stop dozens of tailgaters from flocking to Floyd Casey Stadium's parking lot Saturday morning.

"Hey, we're Baylor Bears, bears love cold weather, we're not going to hibernate," said one longtime fan.

Floyd Casey has hosted Baylor's football team since 1950.  But now, 64 years later, the team is moving across the Brazos into a brand new stadium closer to the Baylor campus.

And so, fans came as early as 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning to play corn hole, throw around the football, and bundle up close to fires in green and gold blankets.

"I mean it's totally worth it," said one tailgater. "You're not going to get this entertainment anywhere else."

Other bear fans revisited their favorite memories at the stadium affectionately referred to as "The Case".

"It was my sophomore year and it was one of the only games we could come to because it didn't conflict with a soccer game and we came and it poured and we were probably one of the only group of people in the stands and we were just loving it, enjoying the rain, enjoying the game and it was so much fun," said one female fan.

"My very favorite moment is when Robert connected and we beat Oklahoma, that incredible pass with no time left.I mean that was it," said another. "That, I think, sealed Robert Griffin the third's winning the Heisman. But it was [also] symbolic of the rise and the restoration of greatness to Baylor football."

The game between Baylor and Texas kicked off at 2:30 p.m.
