Routine traffic stop leads to major pot bust

A simple traffic stop leads to a takedown of a possible pot dealer.

25 year old Lawrence Love is charged with possession of marijuana. A deputy stopped him around midnight Friday morning on University Parks Drive in Waco. That's when the deputy smelled marijuana and searched Love's car. He found a small bag of marijuana and a few thousand dollars in cash. The deputy then called in the McLennan County Sheriff Organized Crime Unit and went to Love's home.

They were able to search the home and found four pounds of high grade marijuana and more cash. The total cash seized was around $11,000. Investigators say only Love is arrested for the minor possession charge. As the investigation continues though, more charges could be pending.

"The driver is being charged with possession of marijuana but we fully expect that this is a distribution of marijuana case and our organized crime unit is going to be investigating that, pursuing those charges," chief deputy Matt Cawthon said.

The street value for the drugs is estimated at roughly $20,000.
