TxDOT braces for winter storm

Posted: Updated:
CENTRAL TEXAS -

A wave of winter weather is expected to hit Central Texas later tonight and continue through the weekend. TxDOT Waco District crews will be on standby and ready to go.

Trucks used to apply traction and de-ice the roads are loaded and ready. TxDOT says crews will work around the clock to clear roads and assist where needed.

"TxDOT is prepared for the storm and asks all motorists to slow down and be safe," said Waco District Engineer Bobby Littlefield.

Road conditions will be updated frequently on TxDOT's road condition web page at www.drivetexas.org.

More winter weather safety information can be found at www.txdot.gov – key word: winter driving.
