Law enforcement gives update on search for fugitive

The manhunt for a wanted man continues and Monday the Leon County Sheriff's Office held a press conference to give an update on the search.

29 year-old Colt Morgan was last seen wearing black pants and combat boots, a grey jacket and a black beanie and has a healing injury to his right hand.

Law enforcement has been getting some tips, but so far nothing concrete. They wanted to get a description of Morgan out to the public in hopes of helping them track him down.

Morgan is on the run and is wanted for questioning in the murder of his live-in girlfriend in Houston in October. Her bones were found in the fireplace and buried in the backyard of their home.

The Leon County S. O. says they're following up every tip.

Morgan was last seen in Leon County after he got into a fight with a buffalo police officer and tried to pull a gun. The officer was able to knock it away and used a Taser but Morgan was still able to get away.

Police believe Morgan is responsible for several burglaries of buildings and vehicles in buffalo and believe that's where he stole the 40-caliber glock handgun he tried to pull on the officer.

Leon county sheriff Kevin Ellis says they believe he may still be armed.

"One of the burglaries we had where the glock was stolen, the 40 caliber, there were also riffles in that resident, in that barn and there is a possibility he could have one. We're going to assume he is armed," says Ellis.

Last week, deputies found a makeshift shelter about 600 to 800 yards of the home that was broken into. He also stole a red four-wheeler which could be how he is getting around in the woods.

"one of the burglaries was along the railroad tracks just west of buffalo, west of 45 and it appears what he was tying to do in that area was to get him some clothing, food, money, anything he could obtain and stay in the woods," says Ellis.

Investigators say Morgan could have skipped town either by train or even possibly been picked up by someone, which is why they wanted to get his description out.

The Harris County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. The number is (713) 222- tips.

Do not approach Morgan if you spot him, he is considered armed and dangerous. Instead, call your local law enforcement agency.
