Bell County Deputy Dies Following Wreck

A 36-year-old Bell County Sheriff's Deputy has passed away after being on life support for more than a week following a December 1 car accident near Temple.

Deputy Adam Davis died Wednesday at around 10:15 A.M. at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Davis had been a reserve deputy with the department for several years before becoming a full-time patrol deputy this past August.

The accident occurred when Davis was responding to a call involving a reported man with a gun.

Authorities say the accident happened at around 9 P.M. Sunday on FM 1237, about halfway between I-35 and Hwy 317. The deputy failed to negotiate a curve and his patrol unit flipped end over end and rolled.

He was transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple and was listed in critical condition until he passed away on Wednesday. The crash is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Funeral services are pending with Scanio Harper Funeral Home in Temple. Donations to assist Deputy Davis' family can be made to the Extraco Bank benefit account established for Davis. The account is styled Norman Hubbard for the benefit of Adam Davis.
