The manhunt continues in Leon County, near Groesbeck, for a man wanted for murder who has been on the run for weeks.

29-year old Colt Morgan is wanted in for the brutal stabbing of his girlfriend 44-year old Wende Marshall. Police some of her bones were found in the fireplace and buried in the backyard of their Houston area home.

Investigators continued searching the county and surrounding areas Monday after they received a tip he was spotted last night.

According to the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Buffalo police were called out to question a suspicious man matching Morgan's description Saturday night outside the shell gas station parking lot. When an officer attempted to interview the man near a Family Dollar, he tried to pull out a gun. After a struggle the officer was able to knock the gun away but Morgan fled.

Police say they located the place where Morgan stole the gun from. Investigators think he also stole a red Polaris 40-cap four-wheeler and believe that's how he's been getting around in the woods.

Law enforcement was first alerted that Morgan was in Buffalo after tracing a call he made to his father from a Shell gas station more than three weeks ago. Valarie Marroquin, a store clerk, let Morgan use her phone, not knowing who he was.

"He said he needed to use a phone to call somebody in Houston so my first reaction was to be nice and let him borrow my phone and he called his dad. I didn't know he was on the run. I'm really nervous now," said Marroquin.

Police say Morgan has a distant relative in the area.

Buffalo resident's say they just want this whole ordeal to be over.

"I hope they catch him. The whole town is scared and in shock. There are so many different people that live alone. It's just nerve-racking. You never know what's going to happen," said Marroquin.

Buffalo Police Chief Lance Pavelka says they're "following up on every tip and doing all they can to catch him."

If you see Morgan or have any information call 911, Leon County Sheriff's Office (903) 536-2749 or Houston area crime stoppers (713) 222-tips.
