Authorities looking for murder suspect in Leon County

The Leon County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal's are looking for a man charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend. He may have also assaulted a Buffalo police officer over the weekend.

Colt Morgan, 29, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Wende Marshall, 44.

Investigators believe Morgan stabbed Marshall to death after an argument, then burned her body and buried it in Marshall's backyard, located in the 11200 block of Fleur Dr. in northwest Harris County.

Authorities say Marshall was last seen on October 30. The day before, Marshall called her dad to tell him her boyfriend, Morgan, had just asked her to marry him.

Marshall's dad called the constable's office when the couple didn't show up for dinner a couple days later.

According to court documents, investigators went to the couple's home and found blood on the floor in the hallway and blood splatter on the bed blanket.

Investigators say they found even more blood stains and evidence suggesting someone tried to clean it up, after getting a warrant.

According to investigators, there was also fresh paint on some of the walls and doors as well as human bones inside the fireplace. Detectives found human remains after conducting a search at Marshall's house, in northwest Harris County.

On November 23, a Buffalo police officer attempted a field interview of a suspicious person who fit the description of Morgan. During questioning, the suspect attempted to flee and head butted the officer.

He then fled on foot in the area of the Family Dollar store. Officers recovered a Glock pistol at the scene and believe the suspect was carrying it.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Criminal Justice and US Marshal's searched the area but were unable to find him. TDCJ track dogs were used during the search, but air support was not available due to the weather.

Morgan is described as 5'10" and weighs 170 pounds. Investigators believe Morgan is still in the area. He has relatives in the Oakwood area of Leon County.

The suspect who assaulted the officer, who fit Morgan's description, was wearing black BDU style pants, black combat boots and a gray coat.

If anyone sees Morgan or has any information regarding his whereabouts, they are asked to call 911 or the Leon County Sheriff's Office at 903-536-2749 or the Houston Area Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
