Police arrest man for stealing boat, stripping it down and selling it for scrap

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Police arrested a 34-year-old Waco man for stealing a boat, stripping it, and selling it for scrap metal.

Jeremy Chad Bolden was charged with theft over $1,500, but under $20,000 following an investigation into the case of a stolen boat.

Waco Police say investigators were able to trace back a transaction where an aluminum jon boat had been taken to Lipsitz metal recyclers to sell.

The boat, along with the boat trailer, had been stolen from an apartment complex in the 1800 block of MLK.

Police say Bolden's girlfriend was the person who sold the boat to Lipsitz. Accessories including, seats and a depth finder had been removed from the boat.

Investigators were led to Bolden and a search of his home turned up the missing accessories and the boat trailer.
