Regents extend contract of Baylor President Starr

Posted: Updated:

WACO, Texas (AP) - Baylor University regents have extended the contract of President Ken Starr and expanded his duties in an effort to broaden the Baylor name.

The university announced Monday that Starr will add the title of chancellor, the first time a Baylor president has had the joint designation

Regent Chairman Richard Willis says in a statement that as chancellor Starr will work to boost Baylor's presence "on the national and international stage."

Starr's original contract was to expire in 2015. Regents did not say by how many years his contract will be extended.

It also was not clear if Starr's salary will be increased with his additional duties. In 2012 he received a base salary of $585,808, plus additional compensation worth $120,618, according to university records.
