Ex-Nolanville Mayor Sentenced to 60 Years


Former Nolanville Mayor Charlie Lee Stewart has been sentenced to 60 years in jail for continuous sexual abuse of a child charges.

Stewart was found guilty on sexual assault charges that include the rape and molestation of a young child on October 2.

Stewart could have faced 25 years to life in prison for his crimes.

In the guilt/innocence phase of the trial, the jury deliberated for just over half an hour before they convicted Stewart of continuous sexual abuse of a young child as the 14-year-old victim sat in court while the verdict was being read.

Sentencing was initially scheduled for November 5, but was rescheduled for November 12.
