Belton park reopened to the public

Yettie Polk Park in Belton was reopened to the public on November 7.

The park was closed after a storm on October 26 downed power lines in the park. The storm produced hail and high winds and also uprooted and damaged several trees.

The park remained closed because large broken limbs that were hanging in trees still posed a safety hazard. Public Works crews performed the cleanup.

A second storm system temporarily delayed cleanup during the first week the park was closed. City crews made preparations for the second storm system, but it ended up impacting neighboring areas of I-35.
