Police: Woman murdered after taking part in aggravated robbery

Posted:
WACO -

A woman was found dead in the front yard of a Waco home near N 5th Street and Sedwick early Tuesday morning, and police say she participated in a home invasion robbery late Monday night.

Waco police responded to a home invasion robbery call in the 2700 block of Madison Dr. about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. They found a 19-year-old who had just returned to his apartment.

The victim told police that he was shutting his door, when a female, he identified as Tarrie Lynn Byrom, 28, forced the door open and came into his apartment with three black men.

Police say the three men hit him in the head and body with their fists and a handgun. They then bound the victim with tape and continued to beat him. The four suspects then went through the apartment and began taking things.

The suspects then fled the scene. Byrom and one of the men were seen leaving the scene in the victims green Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The victim was able to free himself and make it to his neighbors to call police. He was transported to Hillcrest Hospital and has been treated and released.

Officers then received a call of shots fired around 3:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Sedwick. The gunshots reportedly happened around 1:30 a.m., but police were not called until later.

When Waco police arrived, they found the assault victim's stolen pickup truck in the middle of the street and a body in the yard of a home in the 2000 block of N 5th St.

The body of Byrom was found several yards from the stolen pickup and police say Byrom had been shot and stabbed several times in the chest.

Byrom was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Peterson and her body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

Police have not made any arrests as of now for either incident. Special Crimes, Crime Scene Technicians and Victim Services have responded to assist in the investigation.
