Woman arrested after her child is found walking in street

A 25-year-old Killeen woman is in jail after her 3-year-old child was found walking in the street Monday morning.

Officers were called out to the 900 block of Williamson Dr., about 8 a.m. on October 21, for an endangered child call. Police say a passerby spotted a child walking in the street during morning rush hour traffic, and took it to safety.

Police say they made contact with the child's mother, Latoya Olivia Parker, who said she left the child with a caregiver while she went to the Workforce Commission to look for work.

Investigators went to her home and found it was unsecured and no one was there. Following an investigation, officers determined the child had allegedly been left alone, and then obtained a warrant for Parker. The child was put in the care of CPS.

Parker faces a charge of abandoning/endangering a child without intent to return. Her bond has been set at $50,000.
