FREESTONE COUNTY -

Freestone County Deputies arrested a 19-year-old man after he led deputies on a high speed chase that reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour Tuesday morning.

According to Freestone County Chief Deputy Robert Willis, deputies attempted to make contact with Donte Abram Tuesday morning. Authorities say Abram is a suspect in a recent burglary and they determined his identity through pictures on a game camera that had been set up at the location of the burglary.

Deputies went to his home in the Oakwood area. Abram did not come to the door, but they noticed his truck was outside his house. Deputies left and parked down the road to wait for him to come out.

A short time later, Abram came out of the house and left in his truck. Deputies then tried to stop the truck, but the driver fled. The chase went down three different county roads and across Highway 84 in Fairfield. Deputies say the driver reached speeds of more than 100 mph.

The pursuit ended after Abram turned into a rock pit area, not aware that there was only one way in and out. Chief Deputy Willis says that at one point, Abram drove directly at the deputies and a constable.

Abram gave up after a deputy fired three shots to disable Abram's tires. Two of the bullets hit the pickup. Abram was then taken into custody and has been taken to the Freestone County Jail. He was booked in on felony fleeing, along with a charge related to the pistol that was found.

Deputies recovered a loaded 9mm pistol along with a small amount of marijuana from his vehicle
