Waco Emergency Management Officials Release Chemical Hazard Interactive Map

Posted:
WACO -

A new interactive map that lists tier two facilities, which are facilities that hold any kind of chemicals are now available to the public.

In a Local Emergency Planning Committee(LEPC) meeting on Thursday, Waco-McLennan County Emergency Management Coordinator Frank Patterson released the map, but it was launched on Wednesday.

Patterson says there are around 300 facilities in McLennan County with potential hazards. However, just because something is on the tier two report doesn't mean all the facility's are hazardous since some might just store items such as chlorine.

The map will be updated once a year. Each chart will list the name of the facility, their address and phone number. In addition, it will list which fire, police or medical department is responsible for responding to that facility.

Anyone can call the facility directly to get the list of stored chemicals.
