Man Arrested for Impersonating a Cop

A man is behind bars for impersonating a police officer in Waco.

Christopher Roger Clifton, 27, was arrested early Friday morning and charged for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and impersonating a police officer.

According to police, Clifton went to Oakley's Bar located in the 800 block of North Valley Mills in Waco to meet his ex-girlfriend.

They both left in her car and headed to PJ's Bar and Grill in Waco. Clifton was then accused of taking her keys and ended up getting into an argument with the owner. At that point he was accused of threatening the bar owner with a police style baton and flashed a private investigator badge claiming to be a police officer.

Police say after the argument, Clifton left PJ's Bar and Grill in his ex-girlfriend's car. He later came back to pick her up and then dropped her off at Oakley's. A friend of the ex-girlfriend confronted Clifton at Oakley's, but he sprayed the friend with pepper spray.

Clifton took off in the car again, and police were able to stop him at the 1500 block of Lake Air in Waco.

After police searched the car, they found a handgun and shotgun. Clifton is a licensed security guard and has a concealed handgun license. Police determined Clifton was intoxicated.
