Another church burglarized in China Spring

After a string of church burglaries, another church is broken into in China Spring.

The McLennan County Sheriff's Office says the Oak Grove Baptist Church in China Spring was broken into and burglarized this past weekend. This makes the fourth church to be targeted by burglars in China Spring in the past two months.

One church goer says she found the church ransacked on Saturday morning so the burglary may have happened overnight Friday or early Saturday morning. She says multiple rooms were thrown about, lights were on and one glass was broken. She says when she realized someone had broken in, she immediately went out of the church.

However, even with everything ransacked, the burglars took a small amount of petty cash. That's compared to hundreds of dollars worth of sound equipment taken from the other churches.

"We've had so many other churches broken into recently that I think we got out easy as far as we only had a little bit of damage and losing about 20 dollars in petty cash," pastor Dennis Larson said.

The sheriff's office says they don't believe the Oak Grove Baptist Church burglary is related to the others. That's because the burglars did have access to more expensive sound equipment, but only took the cash.
