Man arrested on burglary charge after breaking into woman's home

COPPERAS COVE, TX (KXXV) -

Police have arrested a man accused of breaking into a woman's home and attempting to assault her.

Lamarr Alexander Duff was charged with burglary of a habitation, with intent to commit assault for an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of September 19. He is being held on $20,000 bond.

According to the affidavit, the victim went to report the burglary on September 19, just after 1:30 p.m.

An officer met with the victim and she mentioned that Duff had attempted to rape her during the incident. She also said that Duff had been at her home and left about 2 a.m. that morning.

The victim said she went to sleep about 2:30 a.m. and something woke her up. When she woke up, she noticed a man standing beside her bed, and immediately recognized it to be Duff. The victim said Duff was wearing a red bandana covering his face, from the nose down.

She told the officer, as soon as she looked at him, Duff took a blanket, threw it on top of her, and then pinned her arms down to the bed. She then felt Duff jump back and then take off running. Duff then fled the scene.

The victim ran into the kitchen to grab a knife, and later found the window of her children's bedroom was open and the screen was removed.

A white cloth belt was located underneath the open window and a close family member stated it belonged to Duff and he wore it to work everyday.
