Killeen man sentenced to 15 years for robbing convenience store

BELL COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -

A 27-year-old Killeen man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing a Copperas Cove 7-11.

Mercel Ervin was charged with aggravated robbery for a 2012 incident.

On Dec. 26, 2012, Copperas Cove Police responded to the 7-11 on West Ave. B and the clerk told officers that Ervin entered the store holding a screwdriver.

Ervin then jumped the counter and placed the screwdriver to the clerk's neck and demanded money from the register.
