App leads police to iPad, gun thieves

Two thieves are behind bars and police have technology to thank.  One of the stolen items actually led police right to the suspects.

Waco Police arrested Justin Holt and Bradley Matheson for a home burglary that happened earlier this month on the 7000 block of Country Club Drive in Waco.

Police say a tracking app on a stolen iPad lead police to a home on the 100 block on Ivy Lane in Hewitt.

A man there then led police to Holt and Matheson, on the 800 block of Rambler Drive in Waco.

Police say Holt admitted to breaking into a home and stealing the iPad, along with four guns.

He said Matheson helped him sell them.

Sgt. Patrick Swanton with the Waco Police Department says, "The modern conveniences that we have with technology, there is some theft software, theft tracing programs, and basically if you steal somebody else's property, that may lead us right to where you are."

Holt and Matheson are charged with burglary of a habitation. Police say the iPad and a couple of the four stolen guns have already been recovered.
