Baylor football player arrested on assault charge

A 21-year-old Baylor football player is out on bond after being arrested after police say he assaulted a victim on September 16, at an apartment in the 2800 block of South University Dr.

Waco Police arrested Baylor safety Ahmad Dixon on class "A" assault charge for an alleged incident on September 16. He was bonded out on a $1,500 bond.

A 21-year-old man reported an assault to Waco PD on September 17, for an incident that happened the night before. The victim told police he waited to report the assault because of a threat Dixon made to him and his family.

Police were told that on September 16, a cousin of the victim told him to come to an apartment in the 2800 block of South University Dr. Dixon and others were inside playing video games.

Dixon accused the victim of breaking into Dixon's apartment several months earlier. The victim denied the break in and laughed, which angered Dixon. Police report Dixon then began assaulting the victim.

The victim reported to police that Dixon punched him a number of times in the face and head, which caused a possible concussion. Officers photographed the victim's injuries, which include swelling and visible bruises to his face, and an injury to his arm and elbow.

Waco Detectives requested an arrest warrant for Ahmad Dixon on a class "A" misdemeanor assault charge. This was after police interviewed Dixon about the case.

Judge Peterson issued a warrant for Dixon's arrest and Dixon turned himself in to the McLennan County Jail about noon on Thursday.
