KILLEEN -

UPDATE:  The first four flights out of Killeen Thursday morning have already been canceled, according to Flightstats.com.  If you're planning on flying that day, check with the airport of your airline before heading to the airport.

The shut down plane was moved off the runway about 3 a.m. Thursday morning with equipment brought in from Randolph AFB near San Antonio.

Multiple flights were canceled out of the Killeen/Fort Hood Regional Airport after a military aircraft was shut down on the runway. The aircraft was shut down about 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday and was moved from the runway early Thursday morning.

A C-5 Galaxy was performing touch and goes at Robert Gray Army Airfield out of Randolph Air Force Base, near San Antonio, when the aircrew reported a shudder in the front nose gear as they landed.

The crew immediately shut the aircraft engine down and the aircraft stopped in place. All incoming and outgoing air traffic was delayed because of this incident. Both the civilian side of the Killeen Airport, and the military side, RGAAF, were affected by the stalled aircraft.

Flights on American Eagle and United Express Jet have been canceled. Some passengers of the canceled flights were bused to Waco. Maintenance crews moved the shut down aircraft off the runway and to an area on the military side of the airfield.

Moving the aircraft required a special tow that was located at Randolph Air Force Base and it took several hours to get the tow to Killeen.
