Wounded vet given new home at Baylor football game

A local veteran who was injured in Afghanistan got a big surprise at during Saturday's Baylor football game.

Retired Staff Sergeant Tony Biernacki and his family were given a fully renovated, mortgage free home during the "everyday hero" presentation at Baylor's football game.

Ssgt. Beirnacki says the new home will help him and his family move forward.

"We don't have to go through the whole process of trying to get a loan in order to get a house so this is a large step ahead. This is like we get a head start on every body and it's great," said Beirnacki.

The home was donated from the military warriors support foundation, Wells Fargo Bank and Chevrolet.

Ssgt. Beirnacki says he's thankful for the foundation and those who support wounded veterans.

"Hopefully there are a lot of people out there that support the foundation," said Biernacki. "I know once I start getting back on my feet I'm going to start supporting them too."

The military wounded warriors support foundation focuses on helping the nation's combat heroes and gold star family's transition back into civilian life.
