Just after 10 a.m. Thursday morning, Meadows Elementary School in Killeen, was notified of a potential external safety threat and the school went into lockdown.
The situation was investigated and the threat turned out to be a Fort Hood soldier in civilian clothes, who was carrying a ceremonial rifle.
Safety Officials determined there was no threat and the lockdown status was lifted just before noon on Thursday.
