A 28-year-old Waco woman was arrested for using another person's tax refund for her own use.

Brittany Nicole Stovall was charged with theft over $1,500 by Waco PD for stealing another person's tax refund.

Police say Stovall was arrested after the victim reported he was concerned about his $1,674 tax refund. He told officers that Stovall was the granddaughter of his deceased girlfriend and she had helped him file his income tax return.

With help from the IRS, police determined that Stovall requested the refund be sent as a debit card. Police say Stovall had the card sent to her address and was telling the victim the card never came.

According to police, Stovall had used the card at local restaurants, gas stations and clothing stores. After her alleged spending, the card only had $7.92 remaining on it.
