Killeen Man Shot During Another Home Invasion

Posted:
KILLEEN -

A Killeen man is in serious condition after being shot at his apartment in what appears to be an attempted robbery and home invasion.  It was the second such crime in the city in four days.

At 10:49 A.M., the Killeen Police Department received the 911 call where the male resident got into an altercation with the two male suspects he says tried to rob him at gunpoint in his own home.

Police were called to the apartment building located in the 4400 block of Alan Kent Drive in Killeen where officers found the resident suffering from a gunshot wound to his right side.

The resident told police that the two males had come into his apartment and confronted him with weapons.

"One was armed with a gun, and another one was armed with a pipe," KPD spokesperson Carroll Smith said. "They apparently tried to rob him. He wrestled the gun away from them. In the meantime, apparently he was shot."

The resident said he tried to wrestle the gun from one of the suspects before being shot.

The two suspects then fled out the back door of the residence, and they remain at large.

According to police, one of the suspects was wearing a light colored shirt and camouflage pants while the other wore a dark shirt with camouflage pants.

The resident who was shot is being treated for his injury at the Darnall Army Medical Center after undergoing surgery. He is listed as being in serious condition.

Early Saturday morning, two men were shot when four suspects forced their way into a home in the 2000 block of Schwald Road in another attempted robbery.  Both victims are in stable condition at local hospitals.

No arrests have been made in either case.
