CORYELL COUNTY -

Coryell County Deputies arrested a man for violating the clean air act by burning insulation off copper wire.

Kale Gene Strebe was charged with burning prohibited material and his bond has been set at $2,000.

Deputies saw smoke coming from a gravel pit off Georgetown Road, southwest of Gatesville. They caught Strebe burning the insulation off copper wire.

Authorities say he was doing this in an attempt to burn the insulation off the copper wire in order to sell the wire.

The burning of the insulation material is a violation of the clean air act and Strebe was taken to the Coryell County Jail.
