AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The University of Texas athletic director expressed confidence in head football coach Mack Brown's leadership, despite the 40-21 pasting at Brigham Young University on Saturday.
The loss led to a coaching staff shakeup, with Brown replacing defensive coordinator Manny Diaz with friend and former assistant Greg Robinson.
In an interview Wednesday with the Austin American-Statesman (http://bit.ly/1d6oEVo), athletic director DeLoss Dodds denied rumors of a meeting by himself, school President Bill Powers and Brown after the Provo, Utah, debacle. He also said no such meetings are planned.
Dodds said he approved of Brown's staff shakeup and that Brown has the confidence of himself and the university. In his words, "Mack's fine." Dodds also said he's given no thought to the possibility of retiring.
