No. 7 Baylor Soccer Tops Missouri 2-1, Ties Program's Best Start
Klein and Huggins provide the scoring for the Bears
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 7 Baylor (5-0-0) took down Missouri (3-2-0) with a 2-1 decision at Texas A&M's Ellis Field on Friday afternoon. The win extended the Bears' program-record unbeaten streak to 26 matches and tied the program record for best start to a season (1996, 1998, 2002).
Alex Klein gave BU the early lead as she scored in the 26th minute off a corner kick by Bri Campos, the Bears' first set piece goal of the season. Then in the second half, Natalie Huggins scored in the 55th minute from the left corner of the box to the right side of the goal for her second game-winning goal of the season.
Klein's goal originally looked as if it would stand as the game-winner, but Missouri's Kaysie Clark scored off a scrum in the box from eight yards out in the 78th minute for the first goal against Baylor this season and in 477:11 minutes, dating back to last season.
Despite allowing the goal, Michelle Kloss was solid for Baylor as she had a season-high six saves, coming in the 18th, 20th, 31st, 45th, 63rd and 82nd minutes.
