China Spring Man Finds Six Foot Snake Stuck in Bathroom Sink

CHINA SPRING -

A China Spring resident came home to find a six foot long rat snake stuck in his bathroom drain pipe.

James Dickens was having a normal Friday, but when he came back from running errands and went to drop off some stuff in his bathroom, he noticed something unusual. After taking a double take, it was a long snake.

"It was kind of wrapped around the faucets and stuff," Dickens said. "I tried to get him out myself but he wouldn't budge."

Dickens had to detach the sink from the wall thinking he could get the snake out this way. It wasn't easy to handle and Dickens had to call the McLennan County Sheriff's Office for help. Sergeant Lionel McGee was called to the scene to help.

"That was the biggest snake I had ever seen inside someone's house, and him being stuck in the drain like that and we were unable to remove the snake," McGee said. "It was very unusual and I've never seen that in my 30 years in law enforcement."

After numerous tries to take the snake out, there was only one option left.

"We tried to get him out humanely and he was stuck pretty good so we had to do what we had to do to get him out," said Dickens.

Authorities and Dickens had to destroy the snake to get it out of the pipe. After that, Dickens says he took some advice his grandma told him when he was a child.

"When she was alive, she told me when I was a kid that if you kill a snake and hang it up the fence with the belly up, it will bring rain," said Dickens.

Rat snakes are not venomous, but they are known to bite. If you see one in your home, contact law enforcement right away.
