Two arrested for drug charge and child endangerment

A man and a woman were arrested at a Waco hotel Tuesday night after police found drugs in their hotel room while a 14-year-old girl was present.

Hershel Howard Jackson and Jennifer Joyce Warner were charged with possession of heroin and child endangerment. Jackson faces an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Waco police got a tip that a woman they were seeking on an arrest warrant was at the Americas Best Value Inn on I-35 near MLK. Just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night, officers went to a room at that motel.

Police say, a 14-year-old girl answered the door. They spoke to her and then to her father, later identified as Jackson. Jackson told them the woman they were looking for was in the other room.

They took Warner into custody, and noticed drug paraphernalia, along with scales and what appeared to be heroin and methamphetamine, as they looked around the room.

Warner was taken to jail for the original arrest warrant, as well as charges of possession of heroin and child endangerment, because the 14-year-old girl was at the hotel room.

Jackson was also arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine and child endangerment.

The girl was released to her mother.
