Child drowns in pool, authorities investigate

BELLMEAD, TX (KXXV) -

Bellmead police are investigating the drowning of a little boy Tuesday night in Bellmead. Authorities say 2-year-old Henry Lord was found unresponsive in a backyard pool.

Bellmead Police and Bellmead Fire Personnel were dispatched to a home in the 5200 block of Concord Road at 8:40 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive child. A family member was performing CPR on the child when personnel arrived on the scene.

Authorities were told the family were all swimming together earlier in the day and had gone inside for the evening. 3 adults and 2 other children were at the home at the time of the incident. Dinner was being made for the other kids when Henry Lord was tucked into bed.

The family noticed the 2-year-old was quiet and went to check on him. They found that he was not in bed, so the family started looking for him. The boy was found unresponsive in the swimming pool.

He was pulled out of the pool by family members, and they began performing CPR on the child as they called 911. The child was transported to Hillcrest, where he was later pronounced deceased by the Justice of the Peace, Pete Peterson.

No autopsy was ordered because no foul play is suspected. The death is being ruled as an accidental drowning.
