More Arrests Expected in Baylor Drug Ring, Police Say

Posted:
WACO -

More arrests are expected after police say they have a customer list linked to a group of marijuana dealers near the Baylor campus.

Detective Joe Coy said around 12 additional arrests are expected, but that number can go up.

Authorities have obtained around 50-60 names of customers who allegedly purchased drugs from these three men: Richard Ostheimer, Alexander Leake and Solanga Weeraratne.

Police say they were selling pot to students in the area. On Friday, officers got a warrant to search a safety deposit box at the Bank of America in downtown Waco. That box belongs to Leake who had just bonded out. Leake is expected to be arrested again on felony charges, police say.

Authorities seized his passport, birth certificate, some documents and around $30,000 dollars in cash. That's in addition to about $40,000 dollars in cash and several luxury cars that were seized on Thursday.

Also, investigators further examined the house on Friday and found hidden compartments, more pot and what is suspected to be LSD.

Coy also said these type of drug operations are starting to become more popular with colleges. Baylor University is cooperating with police investigators as the case develops.
