Temple man accused of hitting ex-girlfriend with chair

TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) -

A Temple man is accused of forcing his way into his ex-girlfriend's apartment and hitting her with a chair.

31-year-old David Joseph Hillman has been charged with burglary with intent to commit assault for an incident that happened on Tuesday.

Officers were sent to Creekside Apartments in the 3500 block of SW HK Dodgen Loop about a domestic disturbance call on August 20.

When they arrived on the scene, officers were told that Hillman had forced his way into the apartment, hit his ex-girlfriend in the face and threw her onto the ground. Police were told that the Hillman and his girlfriend had recently broke up.

Police were told that Hillman had a knife and after forcing his way into the apartment, he chased the woman into a rear bedroom of the apartment. The victim tried to keep Hillman out of the bedroom by holding the door closed.

Hillman damaged the door and forced his way into the bedroom. Once inside the bedroom, Hillman hit the victim with a chair and then fled the scene on foot.

Officers found Hillman walking in the 2700 block of W. Avenue L later on Tuesday and arrested him without incident.
