Woman stabs man in "self-defense" after being hit in the face

MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -

A man and woman were both taken to jail after the woman said she stabbed the man in self-defense because he hit her in the face with his cast.

50-year-old Denise Lynn Daugherty was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 44-year-old William Scott Ahrens was charged with assault-family violence for an incident that took place Tuesday night.

Deputies were called out on a disturbance call at a home on Old Dallas Highway outside Lacy Lakeview at 5:47 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found Ahrens suffering from a stab wound.

Ahrens claimed he had been stabbed with a kitchen knife by Daugherty. Daugherty was taken into custody, and she told police that she had stabbed him during argument after Ahrens hit her in the face with his cast.

Both Ahrens and Daugherty were transported to McLennan County Jail.
